It’s end of day 1, or really the wee hours of day 2 actually. I am a few miles from the Texas State line in a rest stop in Oklahoma. It’s been a pretty good trip so far. I found that my bike on the roof lowers my gas mileage by about 4 miles per gallon. I decided to take it off the roof when traveling on the interstate and store it inside then move it back onto the roof to sleep. There were some pretty amazing lightning storms in Oklahoma before Oklahoma City and had they continued this far I could have slept like a baby now. I am pleased with my progress considering I didn’t leave Cookeville till around 10:30 or so making sure I had everything and of course forgot something anyway or so I think. I will have to check tomorrow before I leave here. It’s nothing major, it is a National Parks Passport book where you can stamp that you’ve been to that park and I can get a new one if I forgot it.
I haven’t seen much of Oklahoma due to the darkness, the lightning strike lit up the sky pretty good though. I did see the faint outline of some giant wind turbines and I would have liked to have seen those in the light. Maybe I will see some tomorrow (later today actually). Well its after 2 a.m. so that is all I am going to write for tonight.
